Sadie Coleman, age 90, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, formerly of Washington, crossed over on February 18, 2011 at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction, Iowa following a short illness.

Memorial services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington with services conducted by Rev. Mary Arnold. The family received friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Jones Eden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Hospice Compassus or Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Online condolences may be sent for Sadie’s family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.

Sadie was born September 3, 1920 in Louisa County, Iowa the daughter of Harmon and Iva (Meyers) Crow. She graduated from Wapello High School in 1938. She married Raymond Francis Coleman on January 1, 1938 in Kahoka, Missouri. They just celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary and Raymond crossed over on February 1, 2011.

Sadie spent her earlier years as wife and mother going to work in 1962 at Advance Ross in Washington. She worked at several other Washington businesses and later retired as head cook from the Washington Community School District.

She was an avid quilter, belonging to the Piece Makers Quilt Club in Washington. Many of her quilts won first place. Her hands were always busy either quilting or knitting. She never met a book or flower that she did not enjoy.

Sadie is survived by her daughter, Loretta Prybil and husband, Carl of Riverside; and granddaughter, Colette Prybil of Ainsworth, Iowa; one sister, Bertha Brewer of California and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond “Dutch” Coleman on February 1, 2011, her children, Leslie, Robert, Harvey and Carol; and her siblings, Ruth, Bucky, Ivan and Gene.
