The tragic death of Claude E. Lukins Saturday afternoon on Highway 92 brought grief and shock to this entire community, and the sympathy of hundreds of friends is extended to the grief stricken family.

Claude Emmitt Lukins was born April 10, 1905 at Wapello, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Emmitt Lukins.

At the age of six years, he came with his parents to Columbus Junction and has since made this his home.

He was united in marriage to Miss Alta Lee, December 9, 1924.

For some years he was employed as a button cutter and for the past eight years has been foreman of the Muscatine Pearl Button Factory in this city.

He was killed outright September 6, 1952, in an accident reported more in detail elsewhere in this paper.

Mr. Lukins was a good workman and enjoyed the esteem of a wide circle of friends.

He accepted and confessed the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of the Independent Bible Church in this city.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
