James Otto Kemp passed away in Restopia Nursing Home at Columbus Junction, Friday, March 26, 1954, after being confined there since August.

He was the son of James R. and Mary Kemp and was born in Louisa County, April 11, 1881.

He was united in marriage to Mable Jones on January 27, 1904. The couple had observed their 50th wedding anniversary in January at the home of their son, Fay Kemp, Conesville, Iowa.

His entire life had been spent in the Columbus Junction and Conesville community with the exception of the past 2 years during which he had lived in Burlington, Iowa.

Mr. Kemp was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad at Conesville, Iowa for many years, but because of failing health he was forced to retire 7 1/2 years ago.

Surviving are the widow, six sons, Lester, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Fay, Conesville; Allen, Kanawha, Iowa; Merle, Denver, Colorado; Max, Conesville; Kenneth, Quantico, Virginia; three daughters, Daisy, Burlington, Iowa; Ada Hearn, Greenville, South Carolina; and Mary Geiger, Tulsa, Oklahoma. two brothers, Ernest, Conesville; Abner, Grandview and a sister, Mrs. Vinnie Sargent, Columbus Junction; and ten grandchildren.

All of the nine children were able to be here for the funeral services which were held Sunday at two o'clock at the Stephens Funeral Home and were conducted by the Rev. Edward Norman.

Organ music was by Mrs. H. A. Krieger.

The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful.

Calket bearers were Charles Shellabarger, Sam Cozad, Freeman Estle, Ralph Crawford, Harold Hankins and Wayne Singleton.

Flower attendants were Helen Cozad, Lorena Fritsch, Ruth Forbes, Elizabeth Lutz and Maxine Johnson.

Burial was in the Indian Creek Cemetery.

In addition to the immediate family relatives and friends were in attendance from Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Rock Island, Burlington, Muscatine and Williamsburg, Iowa.
