Donald Cutkomp, well known young farmer of this community, was killed Tuesday forenoon, March 23, 1954, when the tractor with which he was plowing, overturned and crushed him beneath it, killing him almost instantly.

The tragedy was discovered by Mrs. Cutkomp at the noon hour when she went to the field to look for him as he had not returned as was his usual custom.

Neighbors and relatives were summoned and Coroner Dr. J. W. Pence was called. Coroner Pence stated the death was accidental and no inquest would be held.

Mr. Cutkomp was engaged in contour plowing and evidence at the scene of the accident indicated the tractor had slipped into a small wash out causing it to wrench loose from the plow and overturn crushing Mr. Cutkomp beneath it. The time of the accident is not known but apparently about 9:30 a.m.

He was crushed beneath the tractor when found and it was necessary to secure an additional tractor to lift the overturned tractor before the body could be removed.

Mr. Cutkomp is survived by his wife the former Betty Dicks of this city, by a daughter, Linda and a son, Keith, His father, Louis Cutkomp and other relatives. A more complete obituary will be printed next week.

Funeral survices will be held Friday afternoon at two thirty o'clock at the Columbus City Methodist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Walter Vander Linden and the Rev. Charles Keller, a former pastor.
