Kathleen “Sis” Douglas, 89, of Morning Sun, Iowa, died Monday morning, May 26, 2003, at her home.

The daughter of Edward and Mary Siepman Walsh, she was born February 25, 1914 at Tipton.

On June 17, 1935, she married Dale Douglas, who died December 4, 1966.

She was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxilliary and T.T.T., both of Morning Sun. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wapello and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She sold Avon in Morning Sun for years and also worked for the Jefferson Hat Shop in Burlington and Younkers in West Burlington before her retirement.

Survivors include two sisters, Regena Hoffman of Perry, and Pat Johnston of Morning Sun; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wapello with the Revs. Pat Lumsden and Bernie Weir officiating. Interment followed at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

A rosary was recited at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, where the family met with friends until 7 p.m.

Memorials have been established for Hope Haven of Burlington and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wapello.
