Darrel L. Johnston, 82, of Snow Flake, Ariz., died Sunday, June 8,m 2003, at Carriage House in Snow Flake.

Born February 11, 1921, he was the son of Archie L. and Augusta W.R. Hartman Johnston. He married Frances Whitmore on October 22, 1940; she died October 15, 1953. He then married Alberta Evanson. He then married Ada Mae Grace and she passed away in 1999.

He was a veteran of Naval service twenty-two years. He worked for the Navy Fire Department and retired from working at Handicap School of San Diego.

He is survived by four sons, Lanny of Clearwater, Fla., Gary of Mediapolis, Craig of Maquoketa and Joel of Show Lo, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delmer of Morning Sun and Dallas of Denmark; and a cousin, Virginia Hartman of Morning Sun.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two wives.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 14, in San Diego, Calif.
