Travis Alexander Nichols, age 11, Urbana, Illinois, died Monday, June 9 as the result of a playtime accident in his home. Travis, the son of Robert and Lynne Coudrey Nichols, was born June 6, 1992 at Champagne, Illinois.

Travis had just completed the fifth grade at Prairie Elementary School in Urbana where he was an honor student. He was a Webelow Scout, a karate student who won state honors in 2001 and was the first place winner in the spring science fair of his school district.

Travis, in addition to his parents, is survived by his maternal grandmother, Linda Griffin of Morning Sun; maternal grandfather, Ted Coudrey, of Franklin, Tennessee; paternal grandfather, James Nichols of Tucson, Arizona; paternal great-grandmother, Patricia Coudrey of Pontiac, Michigan; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The funeral for Travis Nichols will be held Friday, June 13 at Faith Church of the Nazarene, Rural Urbana.

Travis was a frequent summer visitor with grandparents Hoyt and Linda Griffin and the friends in Morning Sun share the Griffin’s suffering.
