Ronald Dan Archibald, 89, of Wapello, died Tuesday morning, June 3, 2003, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center in Wapello. The son of Millard Fillmore and Bessie Pritchard Archibald, he was born January 7, 1914 in Wapello. He married Mary E. Schwob on January 17, 1942 at Kahoka, Mo.

He attended school in Wapello. Ronald was a carpenter contractor. He served at Fort Benning, Ga. in the Army during World War II.

He was a member of the American Legion Post at Morning Sun and a member of Ducks Unlimited and former member of the Louisa County Izaak Walton League. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed playing bridge and bowling. He had been a hunting guide for many.

Survivors include his wife Mary; a daughter, Ronnie Kay Davis of Wichita Falls, Texas; a granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Davis of London, England; a grandson, Brady Christopher Davis of Wichita Falls; and two brothers, Donald Archibald of Phoenix, Ariz. and Kenneth Archibald of Green Valley, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service for Ronald Archibald was held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 6 at the Wapello Cemetery with the Rev. Mary N. Pugh officiating. Alana Poage provided vocal music.

A memorial fund was established for the benefit of First Presbyterian Church in Wapello and the Wapello Community Ambulance Service.

The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello provided the care and arrangements.
