Glenn A. Olson, 98, of Muscatine, died on Friday, August 28, 2009, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Visitation was from 10:30-11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Reverend David Ivie officiated. Inurnment was in the Muscatine Memorial Park Mausoleum. Following the memorial service a time of food and fellowship was held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. Glenn’s request for cremation was officiated by the Life Transition and Cremation Center. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in memory of Glenn. Glenn was born on August 17, 1911, in Monmouth, Illinois the son of William H. and Anna Christine Chinberg Olson. On August 10, 1933, Glenn was united in marriage to Florence “Gertrude” Frymire in Monmouth, Illinois. He had farmed for 27 years near Little York, Illinois prior to moving to Muscatine where he worked for Huttig’s Sash and Door as a foreman for 16 years, he later worked at Muscatine General Hospital prior to his retirement. Glenn was a member of the Oddfellows and Rebekahs in Little York and West Liberty-Muscatine chapters. He was a member of the Little York school board for a number of years, he was an elder for the Cedar Creek United Presbyterian Church, a member of the Warren County, Illinois Farm Bureau Board, he was active with the Lincoln Blvd. Meal Site, Muscatine; was an avid mall walker, inside and out; a member of the McDonald’s Coffee Group; and the First Presbyterian Church, Muscatine. Together he and his wife moved to Lutheran Homes Assisted Living in 2003, he remained there until 2008, when he moved to Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center.

Glenn will be deeply missed by his children, Glenn Andrew “Andy” Olson and his wife, Gladys of Aiken, South Carolina, Patricia “Pat” Khanna and her husband, Pran of Iowa City, Richard “Dick” Olson and his wife, Colleen of Windsor, Conneticut and Joyce Williams and her husband, Sheldon of Columbus Junction; nine grandchildren, Glenn Jr., Gary and Greg Olson, Nicole and Maya Khanna, Andrea and Rebecca Olson and Sam and Scott Williams and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2004, two brothers, Carl and Frank Olson and one sister, Grace Johnson.
