Ralph E. Oak, age 84 of Columbus Junction, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
The son of Henry J. and Lenora (Dorrell) Oak, he was born January 31, 1924 at Columbus Junction. On March 6, 1946 he married Darlene M. Snyder at Columbus Junction; she died February 21, 1997. He was a graduate of the Columbus Junction High School. He served in the US Air Force for six years during W.W.II. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction; a member of the Allen Wright Hanft Post #100 of the American Legion in Columbus Junction; a member of the Masonic Lodge #107 A.F. & A.M. in Columbus City; a member of the Kaaba Shrine and the Davenport Consistory. He worked in earlier years in construction, the restaurant and grocery businesses, and in later years in sales at the Mincer Ford auto dealership, all in the Columbus Junction community.

He is survived by two daughters, Denise Wasik and husband, Ralph of Cedar Rapids and Diane Goode and husband, Lisle of Des Moines; four grandchildren; one sister, Helen Clark of Columbus Junction.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and one sister.

According to his wishes, there will be no visitation or services. A private family interment service will be held at the Indian Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the benefit of the Columbus Junction United Presbyterian Church.

Honts Funeral Home in Winfield is in charge of the arrangements.
