Anna Hamilton, 99, of Fredonia, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction.

Funeral services for Anna were 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2009, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Pastor Mike McAfee of the Victory Christian Center officiated. Casket bearers were Kevin Clevenger, Mitch Hamilton, Brian Watson, Nick Roland, Dusty Buffington and Mike McVey. Honorary casket bearers were Marvin Hamilton, Will Roland, Dan McVey, Spencer McVey, Corey Clevenger and Sherry Buffington. Burial was in Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Washington County Hospice and the Colonial Manor Care Center in Anna’s name. Anna Doris Wolford was born February 26, 1910 in Keswick, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Ellen (Stowell) Wolford. She graduated from high school in Cainsville, Missouri in 1926. On December 7, 1935 Anna was united in marriage to Raymond Leonard Hamilton in Pleasanton, Iowa. She and her husband owned and operated Hamilton’s Station and Café in Columbus Junction for 20 years. Anna was also a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking and especially, spending time with her family.

Anna will be dearly missed by her children: Joan Watson of Fredonia and Jerry Hamilton and his wife, Charlotte of Letts; seven grandchildren: Sherry Buffington of Columbus Junction, Kevin Clevenger and wife, Deanna of Letts, Brian Watson and wife, Wendy of Columbus Junction, Kim Johnson and husband, Wally of Momencee, Illinois, Mitch Hamilton and wife, Janet of New Boston, Illinois, Lesa Peters and husband, Rick of Grinnell, Iowa and Tracy McVey and husband, Mike of Wellman, Iowa; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond “Cotton” Hamilton in September 1977; five brothers; and two sisters.
