Duane I. Dickinson, 86, of Muscatine, died on Thursday, November 26, 2009, at Unity Hospital.

Funeral Service was 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at the Ralph J Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Kimberly Bowles officiated the service. Casket bearers were Dick Leach, Kenny Leach, Ted Kemp, Tom Carter, Steve Ellsworth, Matt Bettis, and Darin Leach. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be left to the Letts Fire Department or Carrington Place. Online condolences for the Dickinson family may be left at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Duane was born on October 4, 1923, in Muscatine, the son of Charles and Bertha Werner Dickinson. He graduated from Letts High School Class of 1941. He was a US Army veteran having served as a medical technician with tours in Japan, Philippines, and the U.S. He was a retired farmer and grain truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Dickinson of Muscatine; one daughter, Mary Dickinson of Muscatine; and one sister, Margie Bailey of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Karen, in infancy, two brothers, and two sisters.
