Lorena Williams, 89, of Columbus Junction, died Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services were Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Pastor Al Coffin of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church officiated the services. Casket bearers were Rob Kremer, Roger Porter, Sam Williams, Scott Williams, Matt Murphy, Jeff Idle and John Peters. Burial was in Wapello Cemetery. Following the committal services a time of food and fellowship was held at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Visitation was held on Monday, October 25, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus City United Methodist Church in memory of Lorena. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Lorena Anderson was born in Mt. Union, Iowa on August 16, 1921, the daughter of A.B. and May (Mathews) Anderson. Lorena married Alfred P. Williams on October 26, 1941 in Mt. Union. She graduated from Mt. Union High School.

Lorena was a member of the Columbus City United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rebekahs, and the Shellbark Club.

Lorena was a life long homemaker. Alfred and Lorena farmed in the Columbus Junction area. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked camping, gardening, baking cookies, playing cards, needlework, and reading she was an avid fan of bull riding.

Lorena will be deeply missed by her five children; Sheldon Williams and his wife, Joyce of Columbus Junction, Doug Williams of Mt. Pleasant, Nancy Porter of Washington, Alfreda Murphy and her husband, John of Conesville and Chan Williams and his special friend, Henrietta Stogdill of Columbus Junction; ten grandchildren; Sam Williams and his wife, Rita, Scott Williams and his wife, Mary, Jennifer Williams, Jeff Idle and his wife, Vickie, Gary Idle, Amy Idle-Davisson, Roger Porter and his wife, Gwen, Rebecca Kremer and her husband, Rob, Matt Murphy and his special friend, Julie and Jessica Murphy; twelve great-grandchildren; Jessup and Michaela Kremer, Madison and Montana Porter, Cole and Erin Williams, Luke and Samantha Idle, Sean and Eric Idle, Garret and Gavin Idle-Davisson; twin brother and sister; Paul Anderson and Pauline Willson, both of Mt. Pleasant; two special friends, Burdette Boulton of Muscatine and Lillian Fletcher of Wapello; and a special four legged friend, Buttons.

Lorena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; Harold Anderson, Gerald Anderson, and Dale Anderson; and one sister; Francis Oliver.

Lorena’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all the 4th Floor nurses at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City for all they did for their mother.
