Virginia Wink, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, Texas.

Graveside services were Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Indian Creek Cemetery of rural Columbus Junction, Iowa. Commissioned Lay Pastor Ramona Wink officiated. There was no visitation. Local arrangements were made by Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Virginia’s name, and online condolences may be left to the Wink family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Virginia Marie Wilkins was born October 19, 1929 in Marshall County, Iowa, the daughter of Ivo L. and Ruby M. (Sawtell) Wilkins. Virginia graduated from Wilson High School in 1947. On December 2, 1950 she was united in marriage to Donald R. Wink at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Virginia was employed at Coe College, the Iowa National Mutual Insurance Company and the WMT Stations, retiring as Executive Secretary to the President of KGAN-TV on August 1, 1985 after 22 years of service. Upon retirement, Virginia and Don became avid golfers and traveled extensively in their RV. They visited Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico and many European countries, and in March of 2005 they became Winter Texans, spending summers in Iowa. Virginia was a member of the Cedar Rapids Ladies Golf Association, the Meadow Creek Ladies Golf Association and the Friends of Iowa Public Television.

Virginia will be dearly missed by her husband, Don of Cedar Rapids and Mission, TX; her son, Timothy Wink and his wife, Ramona of Columbus Junction; her grandson, Andy Wink of Columbus Junction; her brothers, Norman Wilkins of Little Falls, MN, Marion Wilkins of Iowa Park, TX and Jerry Wilkins of Elizabethtown, KY; and many nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents.
