Lon Messer, 43, of Letts, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 at his home in Letts.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Rev. Fr. Joseph Sia will officiate. Burial will be in the Letts Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23rd at the funeral home from 5:30-9:30 p.m. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Lon’s name. Lon Allan Messer was born February 28, 1967 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of David and Barbara (Messer) Reid. He graduated from L & M High School in May 1985. He worked for Tyson Foods for 24 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was an avid sports fan and seldom missed a Cubs or Bears game. Lon was well-loved and will be greatly missed.

Lon will be dearly missed by his spouse, Lorena Santos of Letts; two sons, Christian Messer of Muscatine and Kevin Messer of Letts; two step-daughters, Tania Navarro and Alison Mackintosh of Letts; two grandchildren, Colton and Caidee Jo Messer; his brother, Ray Messer of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Jolene Little of Wapello; his parents, David and Barbara Reid of Letts; and his grandmother, Joyce Reid of Letts.
