Annetta L. Meinen, 91, of Barton, VT passed away on November 24, 2010 at her home surrounded by family.

Funeral service was held at Walton’s Funeral Home, Reno, NV on Dec. 6th with burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Annetta was born Aug. 10, 1919, Letts Ia. the daughter of Harry W. Furnas and Maud E Hidlebaugh Furnas.

She married Robert L Meinen on Sept. 26, 1947 in Coolidge, AZ. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1969.

Mrs. Meinen was a graduate of the Letts Consolidated High School, class of 1937. She received her teaching certificate at eh University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, and a bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Nevada, Reno. She taught school for many years before her retirement at the Eliza Pierce School in Battle Mountain, NV. Along with her husband she helped develop the community of Silver Springs, NV where she also served on several boards and committees throughout her many years as a resident.

She is survived by her son, Robert L Meinen and wife. Theresa of Boise, ID and her daughter, Anne L. Meinen Albrecq of Barton, VT; her grandchildren, Michael Meinen, Scott Meinen, Heather Meinen Pfaff, Robert Meinen, Mathew Meinen; twelve great-grandchildren; her brother H. William “Bill” Furnas of Letts, Ia and several nieces and nephews.

Annetta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Frances J. Hewetson.
