Ronald Lewis 60 of Cotter, Iowa died Thursday July 22, 2010 at his home attended by Hospice and his loving family.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Hospice Chaplain Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiated. Casket bearers were Bret Kurtz, Randy Russell, Randy Nelson and Dusty Nelson. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery. Following the committal there was a time of food and fellowship at the Columbus Community Senior Center. Visitation was held on Monday, July 26th from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Ronald Lee Lewis was born July 24, 1949 in Unionville, Missouri, the son of Nova and Ival (Medlin) Lewis. On September 26, 1970 he was united in marriage to Sally J. Vannice in Columbus Junction. Ron had worked at Bandag as a forklift operator, describing himself as a ‘boxer’ to his daughter’s suitor. He was a member of the Cotter Presbyterian Church and had served as a Town Councilman for Cotter, Iowa. Ron enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, gardening and spending time with his family. He loved having family picnics at Lake Darling.

Ron will be dearly missed by his wife, Sally of Cotter; his daughter, Michele D. Butler and her husband, Mike of Washington; a granddaughter, Emma Kaye; his brothers, Glen Lewis and wife, Barb of Harlem, Montana, Gary Lewis and wife, Nancy of Columbus Junction and Harold Lewis of Unionville, Missouri; his sister, Elaine Kain and her husband, Duane of Kansas City, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elmira Kain.
