Doris L. Brennan, 79, of Wapello, Iowa, died May 6, 2010 at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center. The daughter of Albert and Grace Carlile Strahan, she was born on November 8, 1930 in Moline, Illinois. She attended Moline schools. Doris married Lawrence ‘Larry’ Lefwich in 1958. She later married Dennis A. Brennan in 1977 at Florida. They resided in Buffalo, Iowa, until morning to Wapello to go into business.

She has been employed at American air Filter for 20 years. She then was employed at International Harvester for 4 years. She retired in 1984.

She was a member of the Moline Legion Auxiliary Post 246, 40/8 LaFemmes, Voiture 237, and the VFW Axillary Post 5166 of Wapello. She helped carry the banner for the Burlington Green Beret Drum & Bugle Corp.

She enjoyed fishing, shopping, and gambling. She especially enjoyed her yearly trips to Emily, Minnesota to visit a lifetime friend. They would then visit the casinos.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis of Wapello; two sisters, Caretta ‘Corky’ Waldron of Carbon Cliff, Illinois and James Berry of Moline; a brother, Roger Strahan of South Korea; two step-daughters, Patricia and William McMurray of Ocala, Florida, and Carol and Kevin Selman of Minooka, Illinois; and many more nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Nancy Coleman, and three brothers, Robert Lee and William ‘Bill’.

The funeral for Doris Brennan will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Following the services Inurment will be at 2 p.m. at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

Memorials will benefit the VFW Auxiliary Post 5166 of Wapello.
