Robert (Bob) Paxson

Robert (Bob) Paxson, 92, of Sherwood, AR died Friday, November 27th, 2009. He was born May 25th in 1917 to the late Jess and Edna Paxson in Wapello, Iowa, and graduated from Wapello High School.

He and his late wife Alliene Collie Paxson met and married in Camden, Arkansas, where they lived many years before moving to Jackson, MS. He retired from the Jackson Clarion-Ledger newspaper.

They were active members of Calvary Baptist Church. They moved to Sherwood several years ago and were active members of Park Hill Baptist Church.

Bob’s passion was golf. He was very proud of his golf trophies for hitting five hole-in-ones, being on championship teams to tournaments and his many personal achievements in golf.

Bob is survived by his sister, Verna Paxson Taylor of Wapello, Iowa; nieces Joann Sicheneder and Jim of Meadows Vista, CA and Carol Campidonica of Modesto, CA; his sister in law Jean Harrison and Ray of Sherwood and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 5th, 2009 in the chapel at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Shaddox officiating. Burial followed in Rest Hills Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers were the members of his Sunday School department.
