Obituary

Mrs. Harry Tillman (nee Ona Alice Thompson), eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Thompson, was born near Grandview, IA, June 24, 1891, and died at Denver, Colorado, October 15, 1911, at age 20 years, 3 months, and 21 days. Ona was of a bright and loving disposition. She had a kind word and smile for everyone. Se will indeed be sadly missed by all who knew her. Most of her girlhood days were spent on the farm except for a few years when she attended the schools in Wapello.

She was united in marriage to Harry Tillman, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Tillman, July 4, 1909. To this union was born one daughter, Flora, who with the grief stricken husband survives. About one year ago they removed to Denver, Colorado, for the benefit of Harry's health. Just a year from the day they departed a telegram came to her parents conveying the sad intelligence that dear Ona had passed away. She succumbed to an operation for peritonitis. Besides her husband and little daughter, she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Thompson; three sisters, Gussie, Marion and Helen, and two brothers, Earl and Johnny, to mourn her demise.

The funeral services were held on Friday, October 20, from the Presbyterian Church in Wapello, of which she was a member, conducted by Rev. Carl Montanus. The floral offerings were beautiful. A large concourse of sorrowing friends gathered to pay tearful tribute to one that was loved by all. Ona was laid to rest in a beautiful spot in Wapello Cemetery.
