MRS. JOHN L. ROBERTS SUCCUMBS TO COMPLICATIONS
Did Not Rally After Operation Monday - Was Resident of this Country Most of Life
Without recovering from an operation performed Monday morning, Mrs. John L. Roberts of 110 Van Horne street, passed away at the Bellevue hospital at midnight last night. She had been suffering from complications for a period of about two years, but her condition was not considered until about three weeks ago. Shortly afterwards she was removed to the hospital where an operation was performed Monday.
She was 62 years of age and had been a resident of this country almost her entire life.
Josephine Whistler was born in Lisbon, Linn county, Iowa, October 26, 1854 and when but a few years old she moved to Muscatine county with her parents and has since made her home here. In August 1909 she was united in marriage with John Louis Roberts at Grandview, coming to Muscatine from that place two years ago.
Surviving her she leaves her husband and two children, William Whistler of San Pedro, Cal., and Mrs. W.L. White of this city. Two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Kemp, of Denver, Col., and Mrs. Kate Wilmering of this city; four brothers, William Whistler of Stark, Fla.; Charles and Jake of Cedar Rapids, and Christ of this city, and one grandchild, Viola Maebelle White of this city, also mourn her demise.
The remains were removed to the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. L. White, at 110 West Tenth street, from which place short services will be held Friday afternoon, after which the funeral sermon will be delivered by the Rev. C.L. Young at the United Brethren church at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery.
