AINSWORTH MAN DIES ON SUNDAY
COMMUNITY MOURNSPROMINENT BUSINESS FIGURE.
Pneumonia and Complications Caused Demise - Funeral Services Are to Be Held on Tuesday.
Ainsworth, Ia., April 16. - George West, one of the pioneer businessmen, passed away at his home here Sunday morning at 9:30 o'clock, after an illness of only a few days, the cause of his death being pneumonia and complications. The deceased was born in Susquehanna county, Pa., in 1851, and moved with his parents to Winneshiek county, Ia., in 1855, where they made their home
until 1867, when they moved to Washington, county, living on a farm until 1880 when they moved to Ainsworth, and Mr. West and Amos Kellar purchased the meat market and continued in this business until 30 years ago, when fire destroyed the business section of the town. After this he and his father were in the wholesale feed and flour business for a number of years and after the death of his father disposed of this and went into the poultry and produce businss, which he contined until the time of his death. In the year 1882 he was married to Mina Freeland, who with two sons, Robert and Albert, and two sisters, Mrs. Emily Hull of Columbus Junction, and Mrs. Mary Breed of this place, survive.Mr. West will be greatly missed in the family circle, as he was very devoted to his home, he was a quiet and respected citizen and will be missed in the community.
The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the M.E. church, of which he was a member for several years, the Rev. T.C. Kennedy conducting the services.
