Jeanette I. Ealey

Jeanette Irene Ealey, 69, of Wapello, died Friday evening, April 11, 2003, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center. The daughter of Herman Gustaf and Lola Mae Brown Johnson, she was born October 24, 1933, at Argyle, Iowa. She married Charles F. Ealey on November 10, 1952, at Keokuk. They were married for more than 30 years.

Jeanette was a homemaker. In early years she had worked at the IAAP in Middletown. The family had lived in the Keokuk and Argyle area for many years until moving to Louisa County in the early 1970s. She had worked as a CMA at the Wapello Nursing home and then at the Odessa Residential Care Facility until her retirement.

She was of the Protestant faith, having always been a believer in Jesus. She loved to crochet and watch old movies. She loved pets and for many years raised Yorkies. Her time with her family was her most cherished times.

Survivors include three sons, Chuck and Debbie Ealey of Wapello, Kris Ealey of Burlington and Robert and Brenda Ealey of Wapello; two daughters, Kim and Todd Earnest of Wapello, and Candy and Kacey Van Dolah of Burlington; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Hensen of Louisiana and Katherine Spiker of Argyle; two brothers, Herman Johnson Jr., of Keokuk, and Virgil Johnson of Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, ‘Vickie, two brothers, George and John Arthur, and a sister, Dorothy Groves.

The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with the Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Some special songs were ‘Amazing Grace’ and “The Lord’s Prayer’. Burial followed at the Scandinavian Cemetery, rural Argyle. The pallbearers were Chuck Ealey, Kacey Van Dolah, Mike Delzell, Jason Delzell, Logan Ealey and Darin Ealey.

Open visitation was Monday at the funeral home where the family met with friends in the evening.

A memorial fund has been established in her memory.
