The Morning Sun Herald, Morning Sun, Iowa Thursday, January 17, 1884

The illness of Robert A. Finley which we mentioned last week, terminated on Friday with death. He was upwards of 17 years of age and was a bright, promising young man. For several months past he had been in the employee of James W. Smithers, manufacturing baker and confectioner, at Burlington, where he bore a good reputation and was well liked by all. Mr. Smithers attested his esteem for the young man by writing the parents a sympathetic letter of condolence at his death. The funeral took place on Saturday, Revs. Lewis and Campbell officiating. The remains were interred in Elmwood cemetery. Mr. Finley and family desire to return thanks to the public for their kindness during his sickness.

Note: the article published in the January 10 newspaper stated that he was the son of A. K. Finley and that he had inflammation of the bowels.
