Doyle Lyons, 70, of rural Danville died at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born Oct. 13, in Iowa City, he was the son of Ollie and Susie Perkins Lyons. On July 2, 1060, he married Lelen Weyrick in Burlington.

Mr. Lyons was an auto machinist. He was known for his physical strength, and once used one arm to lift a car that had fallen on him. He enjoyed watching westerns, teasing and canning pickled beets.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Julie Swafford of Joplin, Mo., and Annette Porter of Keokuk; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Darrell Lyons of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild and three brothers.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where family will receive freinds from 6 to 8 p.m.

The graveside funeral for Mr. Lyons will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Prairie Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Cindy Johnson officiating.

A memorial has been established.
