Wapello, Iowa, Jan. 24 - Francis Stock was born at Mattstett, Sachsen Weimar, Germany, Oct. 20, 1822. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E.W. Hahn, Jan.14th, 1911, aged aged 88 years, 2 months, and 25 days. He was one of a family of 9 children, the father, mother, brothers and sisters have all preceded him to the better world. He left his native home in February, 1844, having traveled all through the Holy Lands, coming to America in September, 1851. He was united in marriage, April 10, 1856, to Miss Elizabeth Wikleman at Muscatine, Iowa. To this union were born six children, two having died in infancy. One son Otto F., died November 7, 1902. He was bereft of his companion, December 9, 1906. The three surviving children are: Mrs. Emma Hahn, Charles W. Stock, Mrs. Laura Thompson, all of Cedar Rapids, Neb. He also leaves nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. All mourn the loss of a loving father and grandfather. Father Stock accepted the Christian faith in his early boyhood. In 1859, he together with his wife, joined the Congregational church of Grandview, Iowa. Later they joined the German Evangelical church and were both faithful and consistent Christians until the Lord called them home. For fifty years father and mother Stock shared the joys and sorrows of this life together and were always happy when surrounded by their children.

The deceased was a very patient sufferer in his last affliction, always looking with never wavering faith for the coming of the lord.
