Myrle Kelly Hook, age 99, of Wapello, died Friday afternoon, May 20, 1994, at the Morning Sun Care Center, Morning Sun.

The daughter of William J. and Viola Kemp Kelly, she was born in Louisa County, Iowa. She married Albert A. Hook on October 5, 1920. He died June 13, 1978.

SHe was a graduate of Wapello High School and received ber B.A. in Education from the University of Iowa. She taught school at Wilton Junction and then later for many years at Oakville High School.

She was a longtime active member of the United Methodist Church at Wapello and a life member and had served as district officer of the United Methodist Women. She was a life member and 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 257 of Wapello and a charter member and 50 year member of the TTT, Chapter G of Wapello. She was formerly an active member of the Oakville 20th Century Club and the Wapello Study Club.

Survivors include her son, William B. and Darlene Hook of Wapello; three grandchildren, Connie Rohwer of Bettendorf, Randy Hook of Wapello, and Georgia Guckert of Arlington, Texas; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; two brothers, Harry and Willie Kelly; and two sisters, Mildred Hook and Marian Kelly.

The funeral service for Myrle Hook was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 23, at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with Rev. Ed Philgreen officiating. Bev Parsons provided the organ music. The casket bearers were Robert Hook, David Hook, Jack Parsons, Bill Aspelmeier, Harry Jordan, and William H. Matthews. Burial followed at the Mallory Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the United Methodist Church, Wapello.
