Mildred Maralee Waterhouse, age 78, of 427 Washington Street, Wapello, Iowa, died Wednesday afternoon, January 17, 1996 at the Burlington Medical Center.

The daughter of Louis L. and Delilah Alexander Schneider, she was born September 10, 1917 at Wapello. She married Miles C. Waterhouse on January 29, 1939 at Burlington.

She was a graduate of Wapello High School in 1937. She had worked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant and also as a waitress and also as a receptionist for the dental office of Dr. Hoover in Wapello. She also provided child care in her home for many years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington. She enjoyed crafts and needlework.

Survivors include her husband, Miles; a son, Larry Dean Waterhouse of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Mary Ann Adams of Indianola, Iowa; two grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy McNeil and Lois Maddux both of Wapello; a brother, Merwin Schneider of Clearlake, California; nine nieces; six nephews; sixteen grand-nieces; and twenty-eight grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathryn Sorenson;and a brother, Randall Schneider.

The funeral service for Maralee Waterhouse was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 1996 at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with Rev. Mary N. Pugh officiating. The organist was Kathleen Hagele. The casket bearers were Burns McNeil, Bill Maddux, Ron Gates, Bill Foor, Don Williams and Roger Huddle. the honorary bearers were Tim Graham, David Fosdick, Trenton Waterhouse, Darren Waterhouse, John Waterhouse, and Howard Cross. Burial followed at Edwards Cemetery, Oakville.

The family met with friends Friday evening at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello.
