Lillian Ruby Gregory, age 83 of Morning Sun, died Wednesday, January 28, 1998, at Genesis East Hospital in Davenport.

The daughter of William and Mary (Kennedy) McElhinney, she was born May 5, 1914 at rural Morning Sun. On May 17, 1951 she married Bertrand Gregory at Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church; he died July 24, 1988.

She was a graduate of the Mediapolis High School and the Burlington Business College. She was a member of the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church where she was a former deaconess and treasurer, and currently treasurer of the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She was a past treasurer of the Iowa Presbyterial. She was a member of the Home Club, Garden Club and member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, all of Morning Sun.

Before her marriage she worked at J.I. Case in Burlington, and later worked as a cook for the Morning Sun School.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Harriet McElhinney of Morning Sun, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.

Friends called Friday at the Hagle and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun where the family was present in the evening.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 1998, at the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ron Good officiating. Interment followed at the Elmwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Morning Sun Ambulance Service and the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church.
