Leonard C. Elliott, age 83, of Wapello, Iowa died Monday afternoon, March 31, 1997 at the Wapello Nursing & Care Center.

The son of Chalmers and Maude Archibald Elliott, he was born May 8, 1913 at Elmwood, Illinois. His family moved to Iowa when he was five years Old. He had attended the Morning Sun High School.

He Married Pauline Derby on June 6, 1934 at Burlington. Leonard was a lifetime farmer and farming was his life. He had also served as a Louisa County Supervisor for 20 years.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Wapello. He was a member of the Wapello Lodge #5 A.F.&A.M., the Davenport Consistory and the Kaaba Temple of Davenport.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline; a daughter, Diane (Mrs. Gary) Grouwinkel of Mt. Prospect, IL; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Clyde, and two sisters, Lena and Ada.

The funeral service for Leonard Elliott will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 1997 at the United Methodist Church at Wapello. Rev. John Ling will officiate with Phil Spiewak and Dave Monk providing family memories. Music will be provided by Bev Parsons as the organist and Kristin Spiewak as soloist. Flower attendants will be Jean Brauns and Marcia Schneider.

Burial will follow at the Harrison Cemetery, Wapello. The casket bearers include Kevin Grouwinkel, Keith Buffington, Jack Samuels, Richard Kerr, Phill Spiewak, and Dave Monk.

Friends called Wednesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home where the family met friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the United Methodist Church.
