Glenn William Poggemiller, 71, 602 W. Mt. Pleasant No. 5, West Burlington, died at Veterans Hospital, Iowa City at 9:45 p.m. Monday, October 15, 1990 after a lengthy illiness.

Born May 30, 1919 at Pleasant Grove, Iowa to Henry L. and Anna E. Shepard Poggemiller, he married Alice Marshall June 3, 1946 at New London, Iowa. She died June 11, 1982. He then married Gladys Jeffery Derr, December 6, 1986 at St. Paul Church, Donnelson, Iowa.

He was a farmer and retired from U.S. Gypsum after 21 years.

He belonged to VFW Post 10102 and Moose Lodge of Burlington, was in WW II from 1942-45 under the Army-Air Force branch.

Survivors include his wife Gladys, West Burlington; 2 sons, Bill, Wapello, and Allan, Mediapolis; 4 daughters, Mrs. Marjorie (Larry) Colton, West Liberty, Glenna Slater, Conesville, Pam Elshoff, Coralville, and Mrs. Kathy (Mark) Begey, Wapello; 1 sister, Marie Appel, Carmen, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Lunning Chapel, Burlington, Thursday, Oct. 18, 1990 with the Rev. Robert G. Sherwood officiating. Interment will be at Kossuth Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Posts 7641, 9162 and 10102.

The family received friends Wednesday evening from 7-8:30 following Moose rites.

Memorials to Moose Heart Fund and Kossuth Cemetery have been established.
