Evelyn Lucile Petersen, age 67, of Mediapolis, Iowa, died Saturday morning, September 16, 1995 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.

The daughter of Carl and Leona Foor Schneider, she was born November 27, 1927 at Wapello. She married Dale Petersen on January 31, 1948 at Wapello.

She was a graduate of Wapello High School in 1945. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Mediapolis.

Survivors include her husband, Dale; one son Dennis Petersen of Mediapolis; seven daughters, Cecilia Wright of Morning Sun, Sue Remenar of Teledo, Ohio, Patti Petersen of Sperry, Diane Blythe of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Kathleen Dziulko of Sperry, Amy Petersen and Sydney Petersen both of Mediapolis; twenty two grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanne Strawhacker and Barbara Sands both of Morning Sun; five brothers, Dan Schneider of Davenport, Phillip Schneider of Collinsville, Illinois, Doug Schneider and Mike Schneider both of Wapello, and Dick Schneider of California; ;and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty; and a daughter Peggy Baker.

The funeral service for Evelyn Petersen was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 1995 at the First United Methodist Church at Mediapolis with Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Music was provided by Korkee Carruthers as organist and Joyce Butler as vocalist. The casket bearers included Christopher Petersen, Mathew Petersen, Shane Baker, Corey Baker, Joel Baker, Travis Wright, and Victor Petersen. Burial followed at the Kossuth Cemetery. The family met with friends Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Mediapolis.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Dialysis Unit of the Henty County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
