Estelle V. Ehrlich, age 85, formerly of Wapello, Iowa, died Saturday morning, October 31, 1998, at the Lutheran Homes at Muscatine. She had suffered a long illiness with Alzheimers.

She was born November 12, 1912 at Pittston, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Mullen Monaghan. She married Harry E. Ehrlich, M.D. on July 13, 1935 at Harrison, New York. He died July 31, 1952.

She had graduated from Caughlin High School in Wilkesbarre, Pennsylvania and received her nursing degree from Kings County Hospital at Brooklyn, New York. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Kings County Hospital and later at Gloverville, New York and then did some private nursing at her husband's clinic.

She came to Wapello from New York City in 1976. She was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Ehrlich dedicated her life to her family and especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and flowers and keeping in touch with the political happenings. She had a wonderful sense of humor.

Her survivors include a daughter, Margery and Virgil Haganman of Morning Sun; a son, John Ehrlich of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren, David Ehrlich, Lynne Ehrlich, Kristan Birnholz, Mark Haganman and Chris Haganman; seven great-grandchildren; and her special friends, the caregivers at the Special Care Unit at the Lutheran Homes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters, and six brothers.

A funeral Service for Estelle Ehrlich was held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 1998, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello with the Rev. Bernie Weir officiating. Honorary attendants included David Ehrlich, Lynne Ehrlich, Kristan Birnholz, Mark Haganman, Chris Haganman, Megan Girnholz, Kyle Haganman, Matthew Haganman, Katie Haganman, Jenna Haganman, Jordan Haganman and Kirk Haganman. Music included selected recorded music along with a flute solo 'Danny Boy' by Sue Bloomberg and a vocal 'Ave Maria' by Alana Poage accompanied by Sue Bloomberg. A sharing time for family and friends followed the service until 8:00 p.m. Friends could call anytime after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the benefit of 'Trees Forever' or the Alzheimers Foundation.

A crypt side entombment service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 1998, at the Ferncliff Cemetery Mausoleum at Hartsdale, New York.
