Elvena Gesling, age 93, Burlington Care Center, died Friday, January 19, 1996 at the care center.

The daughter of Lucien and Salina (Bavery) Ancelet, she was born January 21, 1902 at Hancock County, Illinois. On December 31, 1949 she married Elmo Gesling at Preston, Minnesota; he died August 27, 1985.

She attended schools in the Hancock County Illinois area; she worked for Sears and Roebuck in catalog sales in Burlington; she was of the Methodist Faith.

Survivors include; 1 daughter, Ruth Arbuckle of Mr. Pleasant, Iowa; 2 stepsons, Virgil Gesling of Downey, California and Leroy Gesling of Morris, Illinois; 1 stepdaughter, Claramay Pudwill of Camarilla, California; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son, 1 daughter, 1 stepson, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 22, 1996 at 1:30 p.m. from Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Interment followed in the Kossuth Cemetery. Friends called Sunday at Hagele and Honts, where the family met with friends from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Social Services Dept. of the Burlington Care Center.
