Dorothy Leota Crow, age 79, of Morning Sun, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, November 10, 1998, at the Genesis East Medical Center at Davenport.

The daughter of Herbert and Daisey Marshall Burgus, she was born December 31, 1918 at Sperry, Iowa. She married Garrett 'Bucky' Crow on October 19, 1939 at Cedar Rapids; he died June 19, 1982.

Dorothy graduated from Sperry High School in 1938. she was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Gospelaires, and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of Morning Sun. She was a homemaker and had a love for gardening and plants. She was a mother to all. She had also worked for the Congregate Meals at Morning Sun for many years.

Survivors include four daughters, Donna Schrader of Mediapolis, Doris Griffin of Wapello, Darla Smith of Mt. Pleasant and Denise Gram of Burlington; four sons, Dean Crow of Mediapolis, Dale Crow of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Dennis Crow of Morning Sun and Daniel Crow of Oakville; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Kester of Burlington and LaVera Gerst of Yarmouth; and a brother, Harold Burgus of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garrett; a son, Donald; and brother, James; and two grandsons.

The funeral service for Dorothy Crow will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 13, 1998, at the United Methodist Church at Morning Sun with the Rev. Harlan Winter officiating. Music will be provided by Geneva Samuels as organist and Jason Griffin as soloist. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery. The casket bearers will be the grandson, Tyler Crow, Rick Griffin, Jason Griffin, Rick Schrader, Brent Crow, Mike Crow, and David Crow.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. on thursday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home at Morning Sun where the family will meet friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.
