Winifred Pauline (Siverly) Kuhl, age 87, of Wapello, died Wednesday morning, May 18, 1994 at the Morning Sun Care Center. The daughter of Ralph and Edna Strawhacker Siverly, she was born September 27, 1906 at Oakville, Iowa.

She was a graduate of Oakville High School and Parsons College at Fairfield. She married James Hal Peters. She later married Donald Charles Kuhl on July 5, 1950 at San Francisco, California. He died February 16, 1990.

She had lived her early years in the Wapello and Oakville area and taught school several years in the Oakville area. Later in San Francisco she worked as a Western Union office manager. She and Don retired and moved back to Wapello in the early 1980's.

She was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed flowers and birds and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her son, Ralph and Dorothy Peters of Wapello; three grandchildren, Brian Peters of Middletown, New York, Dion Peters of Ames, and Beth Payne of Fairfield; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dwight Siverly of Oakville and Robert Siverly of Wapello. She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband Don; two sisters, Alta Lesnet and an infant; and one brother, Gene Siverly.

The funeral service for Winifred Kuhl will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 1994 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with Rev. Ed Philgreen officiating. Bev Parsons will be the organist. Casket bearers will be Bill Foor, Bud Thornton, David Brown, Jim Lesnet, Don Lesnet and Eugene McGaan. Burial will follow at the Edward Cemetery at Oakville.

Friends may call anytime after noon Thursday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Rescue Unit.
