Thomas C. Carey, 83, of Fredonia, died tuesday, Aug. 24, 1993 at his home.

Born Nov. 2, 1909 at Columbus Junction, he was the son of Robert and Mamie Bliven Carey. He married Wilda Jebb on Jan. 17, 1930 at Aledo, Ill. She died July 22, 1982.

Mr. Carey had farmed in the columbus Junction area since 1935. Before that, he had farmed in the New Boston Bay area in Mercer County, Ill.

Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Sands and Erma Copelan, both of Fredonia; three brothers, Rex Carey of Columbus Junction, Robert "Pat" Carey of Aledo, Ill., and Keith "Dud" Carey of Columbus Junciton; a sister, Irene Morrison of Columbus Junction; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a great-granddaughter and three brothers.

Vistiation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction.

The funeral for Mr. Carey was at 1 p.m. Saturday at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial was in Indian Creek Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
