Richard M. Asplund, 72, of Wapello, died Tuesday night, May 24, 1994, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born November 21, 1921, at Bellingham, Washington, he was the son of Magnus and Borghild Brodahl Asplund. On December 31, 1977, he married Beth Marshall.

Mr. Asplund worked as a contractor and builder. He was an elder of the Wapello Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Dan of California; Debbie of Wapello; Lisa of Hot Springs, South Dakota; Dana of Wapello; and Randy of Wapello; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Johnson of Cedro Wooley, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

The funeral service for Mr. Asplund was at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at Wapello conducted by Brother Ron Ehrman. Burial was at the Wapello Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello was in charge of arrangements.
