Reuben Palmer Allen, 94, of Columbus City, died Saturday at the Veteran Administration Medical Center in Iowa City.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. today at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Wayne Ryan of Knoxville officiated. Organist was Donna Belle Hughes. Earlene Lekwa was vocalist/guitarist. Burial was at the Columbus City Cemetery. A memorial has been established.

Mr. Allen was born Aug. 8, 1895, in rural Columbus Junction a son of Minton and Louis Jarvis Allen. He married Bessie Weese, April 16, 1920.

He was a member of the Columbus City Free Methodist Church, the VFW in Columbus Junction and the Louisa County Farm Bureau. He had farmed his entire adult life. He was an Army veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie; four sons, Reuben, of Muscatine; Don, of Columbus Junction; and Ronald, of Fredonia; seven daughters, Corrine Moyer and Eula Deese, both of Columbus City; Mrs. George (Erma) Brown and Naomi Stites, both of Huachuca City, Ariz.; Mrs. Earl (Arlene) Johnson, of Winfield; Mrs. Richard (Geneva) Snyder, of Grandview; and Mrs. Gary (Kay) Bylsma of Columbus Junction; 27 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Harlan, of North Highland, Calif.; and two sisters, Mina Hafner, of Fairfield; and Mrs. August (Evelyn) Foss, of Old Town, Fla.

He was preceded in death by three daughters, three brothers, two grandsons and one great-great-grandson.
