Paul Orris Baird, age 88 of 26713 140th Ave., Mediapolis, died Tuesday, April 1, 1997 at the Burlington Medical Center.

The son of Joseph W. and Ida (Faris) Baird, he was born February 20, 1909 on the family farm where he farmed and resided his entire lifetime.

He married Eleanor McDonald, October 30, 1944 at the Mediapolis Presbyterian Church.

He was a graduate of the Mediapolis High School, was a lifetime member of the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church, was on the Board of the Des Moines County Farm Services, a member of the Des Moines County Farm Bureau, and a member of the Des Moines County chapter of A.A.R.P.

Survivors include his wife of rural Mediapolis; 1 brother, Orville Baird of Michigan City, Indiana; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, and 1 sister.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 4, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. from the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Ronald Good officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Frieds called Thursday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis where the family met with friends in the evening.

A memorial has been established for the Mediapolis Community Ambulance Service or the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church.
