Ora Frederick Deppey, age 86, of rural Wapello, died Thursday evening, October 14, 1993 at Burlington Medical Center. He was born August 24, 1907 at Wapello, the son of George and Effie Wilson Deppey. He married Clara Mae Parish on March 14, 1929 at Burlington. He was a graduate of Wapello High School. He was a farmer and lived his lifetime on the family farm recognized as a Century Farm.

His memberships included the Wapello United Methodist Church, the Louisa Lodge #19 I.O.O.F. of which he was a fifty year member and had served as secretary of the lodge for many years, and the Derexa Rebekah Lodge #129 I.O.O.F. He also had served on the Louisa County Extension Service Board, the Louisa County Board of Education, and the Marshall Township ASCS committee.

Survivors include his wife, Clara; a daughter, Darlene (Mrs. Bill) Hook of Wapello; a son, Douglas Deppey of Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren, Connie Rohwer of Bettendorf, Randy Hook of Wapello, Georga Guckert of Arlington, Texas, Troy Deppey of Denver, Colorado, and Dena Isgar and Chris Christensen, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bobbie; and two brothers, Henry and Edward.

The funeral service for Ora Deppey was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 18, 1993 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Philgreen officiating. Bev Parsons provided the organ music. the casket bearers were Larry Boysen, John Dykstra, Jack Samuels, Harold Boline, C.L. 'Jeep' Grilliot, and Fred Brown. Burial followed at the Wapello Cemetery with I.O.O.F. rites. The family met with friends Sunday evening at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the United Methodist Church, the Wapello Rescue Unit and the Wapello Community Ambulance Service.
