Lawrence Charles Kerr, 78, of Wapello, died Thursday evening, Nov. 5, 1992, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Born Aug. 15, 1914, at Morning Sun, he was the son of Charley and Amanda Casten Kerr. On May 19, 1934, he married Ruth Hartsock at Wapello.

Mr. Kerr had farmed during his lifetime and also enjoyed fishing.

He attended Morning Sun schools and graduated from Wapello High School in 1933. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Wapello and the Louisa County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley Fletcher of Wapello; four sons, Lawrence M. Kerr of Macomb, Ill., Merwin Kerr of Riverside, Calif., and Keith Kerr and Ronald D. Kerr, both of Wapello; two sisters, Elda Matthews of Wapello and Betty Allen of Hawassie, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends called Saturday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, where the family met with friends between 7 and 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Kerr will be at 2 p.m. today at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Philgreen officiating. Burial will be in Wapello Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Keck Memorial Library, Wapello.
