John Alan Petersen, age 44, Columbus Jct., died July 4, 1996 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

He was born June 6, 1952 the son of Richard and Jeanne Zybarth Petersen in Davenport, IA. He married Dianna Bodkin, July 15, 1978 in Muscatine.

John enjoyed bowling, fishing, and farming, He was employed at O'Toole Lime Co., Letts.

He is survived by his wife; one son Richard, one daughter Crystal, at home; mother, Muscatine; four brothers, Donald, Joe, Richard, and Bill Petersen, all of Muscatine; and three sisters, Mary Petersen, Wapello and Judy and Patty, Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1979, and his grandparents.

The funeral service was July 8, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Rev. Walter Paige officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lonnie LaRue, Dale Hildlebaugh, Marvin Kistler, Greg O'Toole, Mike Townsley Jr., Jimmy Hora, Gene Uthe, and Bobby Beauchamp.

Honorary pallbearers were Mike Townsley Sr., Dennis Beechum, and Curtis Mullins. In lieu of flowers a memorial was established for the family.
