Jeanette V. Howe, 71, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 1995, at Regional Health Center in Independence, Mo.

Born Feb, 28, 1924, at rural Columbus Junction, she was the daughter of John Franklin and Grace M. Rahmiller Martin. She married Richard Howe on Nov 25, 1945, in Mount Pleasant. He preceded her in death.

She attended Columbus Junction High School. She and her husband owned and operated Howe's Shoe Service in Mount Pleasant for 35 years. She then worked at Wal-Mart in Mount Pleasant for six years.

She was a member of the Presbyterian First Church in Mount Pleasant and was a Brownie troop leader.

Survivors include two daughters, Jill Howe of Independence, Mo., and Lisa Patterson, of Overland Park, Kan.; two brothers, Bill Martin of Columbus Junction and Larry Martin of Glenwood; two sisters, Ann Workman of Bares City, Mo., and Kay Duncan of Columbus Junction.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral for Mrs. Howe will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian First Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Memorials have been established for the Presbyterian first Church and the ronald McDonald House.
