Mrs. Alta Kemp passed away last Monday morning, December 28, at Bellevue hospital, where she had been suffering with typhoid fever the past two weeks. Her many friends and relatives thought she was on the road to recovery. But such was not to for, when the message arrived she passed away. This community was shrouded with gloom and sadness.

Mrs. Kemp was a model woman in her home and her lovable disposition won her many friends, who mourn at her taking away.

The maiden name of the deceased was Miss Alta McGill. She was born in Louisa county, near Grandview, on November 7, 1885, and was 23 years, 1 month and 21 days old.

She was united in marriage to J. LeRoy Kemp, February 18, 1903, who with two children, Merle Leon, aged three years, and Lillian Frances, aged 18 months, survive. Also her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. S.H. McGill, of Grandview, four brothers and two sisters - Alfred of Cairo, Ia., Roy, Reuben, Jesse and Ruth of Grandview, and Mrs. Francis Hendrix, of Hale, Mo.; also her aged grandmother, to mourn her demise.

Short services were held at her home in Fruitland, Wednesday morning at 9:30, after which the remains were taken to Grandview and services were held at the M.E. church at 1 p.m. Rev. Morrison, of Grandview, officiated. Interment was made in the Grandview cemetery. The oral offerings were many and beautiful. The pall bearers were: Alfred McGill, Roy McGill, Ferd Hendrix, Frank Kemp, Harry Kemp and Glen Kemp.
