Dorothy Lauber

Dorothy Lois ‘Dort’ Lauber, age 71, of Lone Tree, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at the Mercy Hospital at Iowa City, Iowa. The daughter of Guy Edgar and Marguerite Cecile Luthy Johnson, she was born January 2, 1932 in Sparta Township in Knox County, Illinois. She married Edward A Lauber on January 21, 1950 at Wapello, Iowa.

She graduated from Wapello High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and had worked as a secretary at Murdock Insurance in Lone Tree. She had also done bartending and for many years she sold Avon products.

She was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary at Wapello. She had enjoyed playing on the Women’s Softball League at Wapello for several years. She also had enjoyed bowling.

She centered her life around her family throughout the years and actively followed their sporting events and other activities with enthusiasm.

She is survived by her husband, Edwards; one daughter, Teresa and Paul Blanchard of Muscatine, IA; one granddaughter; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Guy Johnson, Jr.

The funeral ceremony was held on Saturday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello. The Rev. Harlan W. Winter officiated. Burial was in the Wapello Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Lone Tree First Responders and Dorothy’s family.
