Funeral services for Archie F. “Jack” Bell, Jr., 68 years old, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, will be held on Friday, March 21, 2003, at 1:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20th at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. Archie died Monday, March 17, 2003 at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Archie’s name. Burial will be in the Indian Creek Cemetery.

Archie was born July 15, 1934, in McClelland, Iowa to Archie Francis and Martha Clara (Frerichs) Bell, Archie was a veteran of the United States Army and he worked at Central Can in Muscatine, Iowa, for 15 years, retiring in 1997. Archie enjoyed playing cribbage, growing flowers, feeding the birds, writing letters, and celebrating Christmas. He loved his children and grandchildren.

Archie is survived by his son, Gordon Bell of Ava, Missouri; his daughters, Shelly Bell of Ava, Missouri, Cathy Craig and her husband, David, of Elizabeth, Illinois, and Connie Downs of Lanark, Illinois; two sisters, Ella Engle and Delores Smith, both of Raymondville, Missouri; five grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and his companion, Wanda Hoskins of Columbus Junction, Iowa. Archie was preceded in death by his parents and infant grandson Braxton Bell, 1 infant brother, and 1 infant sister.
