David L. Hathaway

David L. Hathaway Sr., 72, of Grandview, Iowa died Thursday, March 13, 2003 at his home. Funeral services were Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Rev. Daryl Erickson officiated. Casket bearers were Rick Leopard, Kenneth Hathaway, John Hathaway, Jermaine Hathaway, Tim Hathaway and Chuck Hathaway. Honorary casket bearers were Warren Clark, Sr. and Mernon Peck, Sr. A memorial has been established in David’s name at the funeral home.

David was born August 27, 1930 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Thomas Charles and Edna Marie (Shock) Hathaway. He married Lois Missel on January 19, 1951 in Muscatine, Iowa. David retired from the H.J. Heinz Company as a forklift operator after 38 years of employment. David was a U.S. Marine veteran serving during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Grandview Community Bible Church.

David will be deeply missed by his wife, Lois; four sons, David Leroy Hathaway, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Morristown, Arizona, Kenneth Wayne Hathaway and his wife, Nancy of Muscatine, John Michael Hathaway and his wife Julie and Timothy Scott Hathaway all of Grandview, Iowa; two daughters, Lorieann Sue Gleisner and her husband, Mike of Antioch, Illinois, and Amy Sue Ellen Harvey and her boyfriend, William Nickols of Grandview, Iowa; one sister, Lois Hammer of Wilton, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Joseph Hathaway; one daughter, Nancy Hathaway; two brothers, Charles Hathaway, Sr. and Lyle Wayne Hathaway in infancy.
