James Harlan "Red" Allen, age 102 of North Higland, CA and formerly of Wapello, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 24, 1991 at the Roseville Convalescent Home. He was born September 4, 1889 at Columbus City, Iowa the son of Minton R. and Louis Elizabeth Jarvis Allen. He married Anna Wilhelmina Westerman who preceded him in death on April 29, 1962. He had been a farmer.
Survivors include a daughter, Marion Bowdre of Las Vegas, Nevada;two sons, Raymond of North Highland, CA and James D. "Jimmy" of Winchester, Tennessee and several grandchildren; two sisters, Mina Hafner of Fairfield, Iowa and Evelyn Foss of Old Town, FL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son Glen Lewis Allen, who was the first person from Louisa County missing in action in World War II and four brothers, Elton, Clement, Reuben and Clarence.
Graveside Funeral Services were held Saturday, September 28,1991 at the Wapello Cemetery with Rev.. Gary Walker officiating. Dudgeon-McCully Funeral Home provided the care and arrangements at Wapello.
