H. B. Chaimberlin, a prominent farmer and highly respected citizen of Grandview township, died at his home last Sunday, October 7th, 1906, being almost 69 years of age. He was born Dec. 20, 1837, the son of William and Ann (McDonald)Chaimberlin. HIs father served in the war of 1812 and was in the battle of "Lundy's Lane."

Mr. Chamberlin was born on a farm but learned the printer's trade, entering the office of the Dunkirk Journal at the age of thirteen in his native state. He afterward worked on the Buffalo Express, the Niagara Falls Gazette, and later on the New York Tribune, Horace Greeley's paper, at that time and during the great civil war, perhaps the leading paper of this country. He came west in 1853, stopping for a while in Iowa City, Davenport and Dubuque returning by way of Canada. The following spring he returned to Iowa, locating in Louisa county, where a brother resided, who was superintendent of the construction of a portion of the Rock Island railroad.

He was married in 1861 to Miss Sarah Ann McClary, daughter of Abram and Sarah (Trimble) McClary, among the first settlers of this county, having located here in 1836. They were among the most prominent citizens of the county, owning a large tract of land in Grandview township.

Mr. Chamberlin and his good wife continued to reside in Grandview township until his death. They had no children.
